How Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) Helps

KAP combines the biological benefits of ketamine with the power of guided therapeutic support, targeting root causes of emotional distress while fostering neuroplasticity and emotional breakthroughs. Specifically, KAP:

icon

Reduces symptoms of depression,
anxiety, and PTSD.

icon

Enhances neuroplasticity, promoting lasting emotional resilience.

icon

Helps patients process unresolved trauma and gain emotional clarity.

Unlike IV ketamine alone, KAP includes preparation, guided ketamine sessions, and follow-up integration therapy to maximize therapeutic outcomes. Patients often report rapid relief and breakthroughs that are facilitated through transformative experiences.

By partnering with Mystic Health, various providers can expand their patients’ treatment options, while ensuring continuity of care and alignment with their existing mental health plan.

Houman Farzin, M.D.
Founder & Chief Medical Officer

Mystic Health’s Founder Story

Dr. Farzin’s journey into palliative care began with a profound personal loss - he lost his mother before the age of three. This early experience of grief planted the seeds for a lifelong exploration of suffering, healing, and what it means to find peace at the end of life.

Mystic Health is a response to the void Dr. Farzin experienced in
his own life, now filled with intention, compassion, and innovation.

Medical Education and Disillusionment
After medical school, he practiced in a conventional system but became increasingly disillusioned with its focus on treatment over healing. He realized that many providers are “trained to fix” but not to sit with pain or mystery.
Specialization in Palliative Care
His disillusionment and personal experience of loss led him to palliative care, where he began to focus on presence, dignity, and peace for those at the end of life.
2024 - Founding of Mystic Health
Combining his clinical experience with psychedelic-assisted therapy, Dr. Farzin founded Mystic Health to create a center of excellence for integrated care — especially for those navigating grief, trauma, and life transitions.

FAQs

1. Am I eligible for ketamine therapy?

Eligibility for ketamine therapy is determined through a comprehensive screening process and a medical intake with Dr. Farzin. This ensures that ketamine therapy is safe and appropriate for your specific needs. Only after this evaluation will you be cleared for treatment. Please note that there is no guarantee of receiving ketamine until this process is complete.

2. Does insurance cover the cost of ketamine therapy?

Our program is currently out-of-pocket, and insurance may not cover the costs. However, we provide an itemized bill that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. We recommend checking with your provider to understand your coverage options.

3. How many ketamine treatments will I need?

The number of ketamine treatments varies depending on individual needs.

We recommend two initial treatments to determine suitability and adjust dosage. After these sessions, additional treatments are available based on your progress and specific requirements.

4. Is ketamine therapy safe?

Yes, ketamine therapy is safe when administered by trained professionals. At Mystic Health, we ensure the highest standard of care, with all treatments conducted by our experienced clinical team in a controlled and supportive environment. Our evidence-based approach prioritizes patient safety and well-being.

5. Can I experience psychedelic therapy without using ketamine?

Yes, at Mystic Health, we believe in a holistic approach to healing. While ketamine-assisted therapy is one of the modalities we offer, we also provide psychedelic experiences through non-drug methods such as Breathwork and Mindfulness practices. These methods can help facilitate deep states of consciousness, allowing for inner transformation and healing without the use of substances. If you're looking for an alternative approach, we’re happy to discuss how these therapies may benefit you.
