My Path to Practice
I’m Lisa Kring, LCSW—a therapist, teacher, and lifelong student of the human experience. My journey began with a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California, but my deeper education came through twenty years of committed meditation practice rooted in Theravāda Vipassanā.

Over the years, I’ve trained extensively through Spirit Rock’s Dedicated Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner Programs, studying with renowned teachers such as Dan Siegel, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Venerable Analayo, Ayya Tathaaloka, Sayadaw U Tejaniya—and I continue to be guided by the teachings of Guy Armstrong, Kittisaro, and Thanissara.
Integrating Mindfulness and Therapy
My clinical work is deeply informed by mindfulness—integrated not as a technique, but as a way of being.

For over 15 years, I’ve served as a senior teacher at InsightLA, where I’ve led courses in:
  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
  • Nutritional guidance and natural medicines
  • Mindful Self-Compassion
  • Awakening Joy
  • The Foundations of Mindfulness
My clinical work is deeply informed by mindfulness—integrated not as a technique, but as a way of being.

My work has extended beyond the classroom into the workplace, offering mindfulness training for organizations such as William Morris Endeavor, Huffington Post, Citibank, Hulu, ABC News, and more.
A Calling to Serve
I’ve been honored to bring mindfulness and healing into spaces of deep need:
  • Through Insight in Action, I’ve supported communities on the front lines of social justice, mental health, and education throughout Los Angeles
  • With Myla and Jon Kabat-Zinn, I developed and led a Mindfulness for Parents curriculum
  • For over a decade, I facilitated groups for those affected by cancer at the SIMMS/MANN Center for Integrative Oncology at UCLA and the Benjamin Center Cancer Support Community in Santa Monica
In all these settings, my goal remains the same: to meet people where they are, with presence and compassion.
Expanding the Edges of Care
  • My work now includes:
    • KAP (Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy) with Mystic Health, supporting patients and caregivers in palliative care
    • Certified Death Doula services through training with Alua Arthur of Going with Grace
Whether walking with someone through illness, grief, or profound transformation, I offer space where healing and meaning can arise organically.
Life Beyond the Cushion
I live in Los Angeles with my husband and find daily inspiration in my two young adult children—who continue to be my most profound teachers.

When I’m not teaching or in session, you can find me in nature, deep in contemplative practice, or connecting with others in soulful community. At the heart of it all, I am devoted to showing up with presence—for myself, for others, and for the world we’re co-creating.
