Bridging Neuroscience & Wellness: A Holistic Approach to Brain & Spine Health

About

Dr. Amir Vokshoor is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgical treatments. With over 20 years of dedicated experience, he is a leading advocate for advancements in the field, recognized for his expertise in spinal disc replacement, motion-preserving technologies, and his pioneering integrative, holistic approach to brain and spine health. He currently serves as Chief of Surgery at Providence St. John's Health Center.

Dr. Vokshoor has been recognized as one of Los Angeles' Top Doctors every year since 2016 and was named one of America's Best Spine Surgeons in 2024 by Newsweek. He established the Neurosurgical Spine Group, the Neurovella Brain Spa (a modern meditation spa), and the Institute of Neuro Innovation Research, all focused on rigorous, evidence-based outcomes that decrease pain, accelerate recovery, and minimize the impact of surgical trauma on overall wellness.

He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, completed his neurosurgery residency at The Ohio State University, and pursued advanced fellowship training in complex spine surgery at the University of South Florida. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Dr. Vokshoor’s Philosophy

Delivering high-quality neurosurgical care requires mastery of surgical precision as well as the art of healing. Discussions on pain, quality of life, and expectations from surgery often cross the borders between medical disciplines, flowing from biology and pure neuroscience to holistic philosophies, and into the ambiguous universe of human psychology. Brain performance and energy optimization is at the core of our philosophy.

At the Institute of Neuro Innovation, a nonprofit research and philanthropy organization, we strive to bridge the gap between the physics of the body and the effects of mindful control over healing. Our method starts with forming a team with the patient as the chief decision-maker. From simple disc problems to complex brain tumors, our team rigorously constructs creative ways of getting well, staying well, and solving life-threatening problems, every step of the way with our patient at the center.

At Mystic Health, we are deeply honored to have Dr. Vokshoor join us as an advisor. His integrative philosophy and commitment to pushing the boundaries of healing through neuroscience, innovation, and compassion align powerfully with our mission.
